Third Ward is an art space in the Brooklyn, N.Y area and is now auctioning off skate decks from “Good Wood”, the skateboard art show, which has been put together by Detroit curator, Andrew Davis. Inspired by the documentary “Beautiful Losers”, “Good Wood” has brought together 45 different artists who have designed a collection of skateboard decks. Some of the artists include but are not limited to; Chuck Anderson, Nathan Fox, Leo Espinosa, Matt Gordon, Don Kilpatrick, and John Breiner. Every art fan is bound to find a deck that fits their fancy with styles ranging from; collage, graffiti, acrylic, oil, ink, silkscreen, and photography. Take a day trip over the bridge and bid on a board.

Puma has come out with their Disc Blaze model that has been inspired by the popular 80’s movie, The Goonies. It seems as though Puma is getting on board with releasing sneakers that are inspired by an 80’s flick. Just last week we reported on the Nike Ferris Bueller release. However, unlike the Bueller model, it is not as clear how the sneakers directly correlate to the Goonies film. There is a mixture of materials and patterns, including a skull motif and a hemp detail on the toe and tongue, which is most likely meant to be a shout out to the treasure adventure the characters went on. Some have said that the Puma Disc Blaze’s are heavily inspired by the film’s Sloth character. This makes sense, similar to Sloth the shoes are not so easy on the eyes, but have some loveable qualities.

Vans have come out with the Neighties pack that features three colorways of the Half Cab LX sneakers. The pack’s Neighties title comes from the fusion of ‘the eighties and nineties’, which Vans is referring to as the golden years of skateboarding. Check out the entire set at Proper.

Any one who makes their bread & butter from animating for networks & music videos is good peoples to me. Not only are resident artists Chris Smith, Jesse Casey, & Michelle Higa the members of Mixtape Club, but they also:
love Jaydee & Dada
throw creative food competitions
& have an intergalactic space hound named Porterhouse.
I photographed Norah Jones’ dog at their last BK back yard BBQ. She reads my blog so I can’t say what I really feel about her but I like her pup & hope it finds a new home.
If you like the idea of Friends With You meets Jan Svankmejer than you will like Mixtape Club’s work. Just check out their last music video for Yeasayer which screened at BAM’s Animation Block Party. I hooked you up extra special with the commentary:
So what’s next for Mixtape Club? I had the honor of previewing their newest music video for My Morning Jacket at their at-home screening. The video’s still unreleased so I’ll leave you in suspense but be on the look out for it! It’s mind-fucking awesome.

The newest addition to the NBA inspired Dunk releases is this “Chicago Bulls” colorway. A pretty solid sneaker, utilizing various materials and textures throughout… although I think that a little more white should have made the cut. These should go fast though with a competitive price point of $80 USD and available at a broader range of Nike accounts (mall stores).

One common theme in streetwear is “celebration”. Either for a successful collaboration, a new store, or season, someone is always celebrating. The latest to pop some champagne is none other that ZoZotown and Devilock. This union has led to a very limited run of celebratory tees to mark the occasion. Fans can pre order these gems through eproze.

You may have seen their sneakers showcased on the Sneaker Pimps world tour, but now Sully and his partner Henri Wong are taking them out of the showcase and into the streets. These classic Converse silhouette high tops in cracked white leather are laced with cassette fragments showcasing the history of hip-hop through the names of pioneers in order of appearance on the hip-hop history time line.

I recently worked with Symptoms Collective on their New Website & Online Store. The site is now live and ready for “choppers”. These guys are family, many good times over the years. Swing through and show some love.
I also had the pleasure of designing a lot of the tees currently available at the website (pictured above). All of Symptom’s Gear is printed on top quality hemp-blend tees, always heavy-duty with attention to detail. Get nice! Click-Zoom.

My recent typeface exploration Alphafont 2.0 is featured in the new URB Magazine. “High Gloss”, an article on Chicago’s notorious Kid Sister. Nigel Dennis (ElectricHeat) did the photo treatment and Chuck Anderson (NoPattern) rocked the cover. Another great issue from The KDU & URB! Click-Zoom.
