Last week we gave you a sneak peek at the upcoming collaboration between The Hundreds and Medicom Toy. Now, the toy has been revealed to be what many had already suspected: a figure of Adam Bomb, The Hundreds’ beloved logo and mascot. The small toy has a sculpted, translucent spark situated on top of an accurate recreation of Adam Bomb’s cartoon face. Dropping on November 11th, presumably at The Hundreds LA and SF. Get your sleeping bags ready.
With the seasons changing and the temperature dropping I have been getting psyched for this year’s installment of my lifelong B/W Bangers Series. This winter will be the 5th Volume (MWM B/W B:5). Lately I’ve been pondering how I will create the series, what supplies I will use, and what the narrative will be. Tonight I spent some time flipping through my B:2 Archive from 2005/2006 (Yes, the entire B:2 Series is on Gold Certificate Paper. So Legit!) One thing I am planning with B:5 is to make artworks that have the clean, bold, high-contrast look of these B:2 pieces, but also with super clean shades of grey. In B:3 and B:4 I experimented a lot with greyscale watercolor washes, gestural and literally dripping wet. This time around I will bring it back to clean and calculated marks with the greys and hopefully keep the same depth and personal touch. As always, the entire MWM B/W Bangers Series can be viewed in it’s entirety at my site, B:1 / B:2 / B:3 / B:4 and I still have a couple copies of B:4 for sale in the MWM Graphics Shop. Stay tuned in the coming months for the evolution of B:5. Click-Zoom.
So I am posting from my house computer. I got a few good behinds the scenes shots of a photo shoot but I can’t upload nothing until I got my laptop. But until then I am going ot put you on to a few videos that I have came by this week…
This Clark Kent joint is a good look. He says nothing but the truth.
If you happen to live in or near Romania and want to see a really thought-provoking exhibit, be sure to check this one out. The “Anyone But Me, Anywhere But Here” exhibition by Olivia Mihaltianu and Rozalb de Mura is a view on “a private world, a laboratory of life-style and holiday culture.” Many elements come into play as the duo exhibit objects ranging from photos, books, and boxes filled with the artists personal belongings. Show ends on 11/9/08.
Its official, Varsity Jackets are really in this season. With recent releases from Supreme and others, its only a matter of time before EVERYONE offers one. So while the idea is still fresh, Futura Laboratories has stitched up a beauty. Material-wise, they keep it traditional with a wool body and leather sleeves. The best part here are the stitched-on logo patches that really pop and let everyone know what you are rocking. Stay warm and cool at the same time with this modern classic.
The high-end designer sneaker industry welcomes its newest competitor, Hermes, with this very chic metallic hi top. Hermes is world-renowned for their fabulous leather works, so its only natural that they put their talents with hide into some nice sneakers. How nice you ask? $7,600 USD nice! That’s right, I am assuming that they are using some top notch leather here, but come on! I can’t wait to see the news hit when Pharrell gets a purple pair to match his croc man purse.
The creepy “Black Gold” Bird Head Skeleton above is the latest collaboration between Span of Sunset and Disney. Along with its truly badass all-black paint job, the figure comes with two swords (one of which is lodged in its ribs), and is based on the fearsome animatronic sculpture from Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Another impeccably detailed release from the folks at Span of Sunset. The figure retails for $70 and should be available at local retailers soon.
One of the most revered names in fashion design, Junya Watanabe, has teamed up with luxury Italian sportswear label Moncler to produce these terrific down jackets and vests. Both have rich tweed exteriors, with leather shoulders for added style. The jackets appear to have a darker brown coloring, while the vests come in a subtle plaid pattern. Available now at REINFORCE.
