Soccer – ahem – football is the most popular sport globally – being played in parks, streets, and fields worldwide. As those of us who have played pickup are aware, squabbles over goals are pretty common, especially if you’re using a crushed pop can as a goal post. For this reason, Reebok has developed the AF1 technology, including a tracker in the ball and a sensor in a specially-designed jumper. Check the video for the details – coming soon to Overkill.
In conjunction with the Hi-Fructose book that’s being released, Santa Monica’s revered CoproNason Gallery have curated the Overdose show this Saturday, April 4th, featuring some of the brightest names in the art world. Last week, we brought you news of Ripo’s “…Is What I Meant to Say” gallery in Brussels. As expected, the exhibition looks fantastic, and we’ve got the pictures to prove it. The exhibit features photographs, painted mirrors, sculptures, and even a handpainted trashcan. Of note, check out the unique hand-written headline drawings, meant to memorialize oft-forgotten headlines. Hit up this link to see more – and you’ll be glad you did!
Continuing their strong spring, Official have released yet another pair of dope hats. Their latest hats to drop are the BMXer and the Black Chezk – both part of the loud Neu Painters Collection, but that’s not a bad thing. The BMXer, pictured above, features a vibrant blue dripped over a red broadcloth and a matching brim; the Ghrey Shemagh Wars, features a dizzying arrays of patterns over a black cap. German retailer Overkill has been busy this spring, and their latest shipment features the diverse Monster pack, including the over-the-top Puma Ape King Mid. At first glance, it’s looks like a standard black Puma sneaker, but upon closer inspection, the shoe features faux fur and crocodile-style detailing. If extravagant is your style (or real gorilla vests, perhaps), then hit up Overkill to take a crack at a few of the new Pumas they’ve received.
I designed the cover for this month’s Computer Arts Projects Magazine. The issue’s theme is self-promotion, so we went for a wild type-jam of “Promote Yourself.” This was a lot of fun for me, and a huge honor. Also in this issue is a great interview with SF’s Benny Gold about building brands/PR, design from Montreal’s notorious 123klan, and a feature on the legendary Global Set known as Pentagram. And much more. An epic issue. Grab a copy! Click-Zoom. I also did a bit of a play-by-play recap of my scrambled design process for their “Behind The Scenes” Section. Can you spot my logo in the cover? Oh, the irony. Haha! I couldn’t resist. Click-Zoom.
