Continuing with the cycling news, it’s pretty difficult to get a messenger bag that isn’t looking played out these days. Chrome bags are as ubiquitous as farmers’ tans in July (and let’s be honest – the seatbelt buckle is kind of ornamental), and Freitag bags can cost as much as a rent cheque. However, for an affordable, not to mention unique, bag, we love Vaya’s offerings. With each bag custom-made to order in NYC, they’re simultaneously distinctive and easy on the eyes. Accordingly, the price quote for each order will vary, ranging from $80-$155, but it’s certainly well worth it. Check out the specs – and the range of customizable features – for these bags right here.

With the ‘kids’ these days doing all sorts of trickery on track bikes (not to mention those silly ‘top tube pads’ they put on them), it’s not too difficult to see a comparison between fixed gear freestyling and BMXing. And, well, DC Shoes – who haven’t historically set their sights on cycling – has certainly noticed, and they’ve teamed up with SE Bikes to release a limited-edition bike. Based on SE’s classic BMX bike, the PK Ripper, the updated version is a matte black number, limited to only 1,250 units worldwide. And, being that it’s constructed from a historical BMX manufacturer, it’ll hopefully be able to withstand a trip down a flight of stairs better than an rusted, converted 10-speed. Get more information on the project right here, and keep your eyes on your local cycle boutiques!

I have just returned from a month in Sao Paulo, Brazil for my Solo-Show “Parallel Universe” at POP Gallery (ROJO). VIEW ALL PHOTOS/INFO. I rocked a full series of 17 large canvases (all spraypaint), a Mega-Mural at POP Gallery (2 day affair), and did a whole lot of exploring in the biggest city I’ve ever been to (cachaça, forró, graffiti, hip hop, etc.) Amazing trip! Muito obrigado Brasil! Eu voltarei em breve.
