Plus, LA Bartenders will be on-hand to create and serve some of the fanciest cocktails money can buy. The show will then run until September 6th 2009 (Tues to Sun 12-6pm). Made to match Ron English’s painting of an obese Ronald McDonald, this version of the guy is in x-ray vision. The shell is translucent orange, but waiting inside is a glow-in-the-dark skeleton. You’d probably see clogged arteries too but they likely don’t translate well to sculpture. Now available at Armth. Read more »

Are you a visual artist? Would you like help getting your name and work out there? Working with Society6, we at Format are offering a grant to one lucky winner. The prize is a big, juicy feature with you as the star including an interview and a showcase of your favorite pieces on our web site.
How do you enter? Well, it’s simple; all you have to do is apply here (you’ll need to create a profile if you don’t already have one). There are only 22 days left to apply before users and viewers will begin voting for the winner.
Not an artist or too shy to apply? That’s ok. You don’t need a profile to vote, so come on back when the application period expires to voice your opinion.

Among the limited and iconic shoes on display at the Sneaker Expo were some classy, old, black-and-white wing tip Vans. Now you can have them again thanks to the Vans Vault Fall 2009 collection. Also to be available in some other colorways—expect some orange and purple in late August—the all-black and two-tone white/black are now available at Proper.

These velvety kicks don’t run cheap, but they sure are beautiful. The blue velvet sneaker is equipped with metallic blue accents and waxed navy laces. However, as with all Lanvins, the shoe costs about three times more than most tier zero Nike releases. It’s all you can expect from a shoe fit for a First Lady.

Acapulco Gold decided it would be a sweet idea to go skate at the White House and eventually got permission to do so. They played a game of S.K.A.T.E. and filmed it. The winners of the day got to choose between a limited edition ‘Presidential Seal’ deck or a limited edition ‘White House Seal’ deck and the day was complete with snipers on the roof and protestors keeping them company.
