  Great read. I don’t feel him on the comments regarding Kanye’s album - a song like “big brother” is very important in my opinion just because most rappers are always so caught up in posturing and overdone machoisms that they would never think to make a song that vulnerable - especially one dedicated to another rapper, that’s still living. besides the obligatory “i’m sorry I made things hard for you momma” or “i’m sorry daddy left you momma, here’s a house and a car”, you don’t really see that type of sensitivity.

  anyway! aside from that, definitely dug what diplo had to say. and his latest mix for pitchfork is flames. props to format.

  def gonna check out this guys projects, id heard the name but not any music. Sounds like an intelligent and respectable person…good he’s helping out under priviliged kids

  Loved the article up until the end when Diplo gave props to Soulja Boy…a poster child for the “rap is dead” argument! Dude says, “I don’t even know what the hook is”…bro, the whole song is one big WACK HOOK! This is what happens when you don’t have to actually rap to have a hit rap song. Fucking sad.

  Actually, Diplo summed up Soulja Faggot perfectly and he didn’t even know it: “The whole dirty south thing was such a grass roots thing, back then, and these days it’s just young kids who take an after school course on marketing and then they just do crap music. Then they get scooped by a label who puts out the ring-tone and then the kids are never heard from again.”

  Diplo is ill as fuck.

  I was cracking up at the Kanye shit, and I really do like his new album…. but Diplo summed it up with ‘we already heard it all falls down.’ Ha.

  Souljah Boy is a hot club track — he’s not saying its gonna be hip hop honors with ReadyToDie and shit. If its a banger, its a banger. Shit, I’ll take Souljah for now over 50 Cent’s wack-ass who can barely muster 1 good beat for his entire album.
