JR –Favela of Rio

Format has featured other art projects from Parisian street artist, JR, but his most recent project displayed on the exterior of a Favela in Rio de Janeiro deserves some attention. Favela is the Brazilian term for shantytown. However, after soaking in JR’s images pasted on the fragile structures, the Favela resembles more like an outdoor gallery than impoverished housing.
