Lou Pimentel’s Yori (the samurai ape) will be featured at this year’s Kokeshi show at the Japan American National Museum in Los Angeles (opening July 11). The Yori figure is made of oil paint on a wooden kokeshi figure. Santo Domingo-born, Brooklyn-based Lou Pimentel paints, sews, beads, sculpts, and more. He is influenced by comic books, cartoons, and graffiti.
