Perhaps you remember the way NYC underground hip-hop was in the late 90’s… You could go see a show because you were familiar with one of the acts and leave with three or four new MC’s that you wanted to check out… This is the vibe we’ve created with Doin Alright a bi-monthly (read as often as we can) showcase of NYCs best up and coming acts.

Growing up I was never a fan of hip hop. I listened more to salsa merengue and freestyle, being the BK PuertoRican that I am. That having been said, from an outsider’s view (mine) Homebody Sandman is the best thing since sliced bread with cheez whiz. Him and 8thw1 are my faves!

what can i say about my homeboy..what can’t i not say about my homeboy..his sharp verbage..along with his witty, innovative and corky flow, he is by far the dopest emcee out there now. Hearing him reminded me of why i fell in love with hip hop.
If anyone just hearing about him and reading this …please support his music;hip hop needs REAL emcee’s like Homeboy Sandman.

the funny thing about this cat, is that i continue to bump into him random ass moments in the city. never have i introduced myself, but when i first saw him, i thought i knew him from somewhere. he reminded me of someone, maybe he just reminded me of himself, but as it stands we have never meet, yet our paths cross all the time. keep doing what you doing, cause its clearly on the right track!
btw you did a great job at the aquarian jump-off at southpaw!

Great article. You only live life once, Homeboy Sandman’s story inspires one to do what they dream to do, despite what family/friends/etc. may think.

I also agree with the concept that anti-black music = anti-black people, very simple but effective way to put it.

I hope he encounters great success.
